In an effort to provide across-the-board health care, Texas Tech Physicians has created several programs and centers focused on specific health issues.
Amarillo Alzheimer's Academy
Founded in 2003, this program provides caregivers with information and services to help care for those diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease.
The Amarillo Alzheimer's Academy is a collaborative effort between the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine, School of Pharmacy and the Area Agency on Aging.

Community Medical School
Community Medical School gives area residents an avenue to learn more about various health issues affecting their lives.

Created in 2007, the Center for Women's Health and Gender-Based Medicine provides individualized medical care specifically for women.
The center focuses on physical, emotional and sexual health for women throughout their lives.

The Amarillo Breast Center of Excellence
The Amarillo Breast Center of Excellence (ABCE) is committed to providing the very best breast care in the region.
As the only nationally accredited comprehensive breast health program within a 350 mile radius of Amarillo, the ABCE is dedicated to all-inclusive breast care.
The Amarillo Breast Center of Excellence is a partnership between Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, Northwest Texas Healthcare System and Texas Oncology Professional Associates.
InfantRisk Center
The goal of the InfantRisk Center is to provide pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding accurate information about the use of drugs, over-the-counter medications, herbal products, chemicals, vaccines and other substances.
By providing up-to-date information regarding the risks of exposure to pregnant women and their babies, the center hopes to reduce the number of birth defects, while creating healthy breastfeeding relationships.
The center’s staff also fields questions about depression, morning sickness and the use of alcohol and elicit drugs such as marijuana, cocaine and ecstasy during pregnancy.
West Texas Influenza Center
Created in 2008, the West Texas Influenza Center (WTIC) conducts clinical, educational and research activities throughout the Texas Panhandle in the area of influenza.
The center is composed of faculty members from the departments of Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
The WTIC has four objectives: to develop an infrastructure for clinical research and study of new therapies for the treatment of influenza and its complications, to provide education to patients and families in order to limit the spread of influenza, to establish a clinical approach to pandemic influenza and to provide a model of care for the influenza patient.
