Gynecology and Contraception
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology sees a large volume of women of all ages. Patients may self-refer or be referred by regional physicians.
Physicians see patients for routine annual well-women examinations, PAP smears and contraceptive needs including Implanon and IUDs. We also offer in-office hysteroscopy and placement of the Essure devices for permanent sterilization.
Physicians also evaluate and manage a range of female and gynecologic issues including pelvic pain, endometriosis, abnormal PAP smears, vaginal diseases, abnormal bleeding and urinary incontinence.
Surgical consultations, including second opinions, are available. Abdominal, vaginal, and minimally invasive belly-button surgeries are provided by the staff. Some faculty are trained and certified on the DaVinci robot for minimally invasive surgery. As the regional academic facility, minimally invasive surgery and other state-of-the-art procedures are emphasized.
